Islamabad: The Ministry of Industries & Production (MoIP) anticipates that in the coming years, the most recent industry would surpass its automotive sector due to the influx of new investors in the mobile phone manufacturing sector.

The country’s mobile phone manufacturing business was anticipated to outperform the auto sector in terms of revenue, according to officials of the Engineering Development Board (EDB), a technical division of the Ministry of Industries & Production (MoIP).
EDB General Manager (Regulation) Asim Ayaz meanwhile argued that the policy on mobile device manufacturing gave local manufacturers of mobile phones a significant edge against imports of fully assembled units.

The combined monthly capacity of these three enterprises, according to Ayaz, was more than one million mobile phones. In contrast, Transsion Tecno, a firm situated in Karachi that produces three well-known brands including Itel, Infinix, and Tecno, has increased local production from 150,000 units per month to 650,000 units per month as a result of an increase in demand soon after the policy’s introduction.
