Humayun Saeed and Mahira Khan’s new film Love Guru is off to a flying start, breaking records and winning hearts at the box office.
In just its first week, the movie earned Rs120 million, beating The Legend of Maula Jatt, which made Rs110 million in the same time. So far, Love Guru has made Rs280 million worldwide, showing it’s a hit not just in Pakistan but also overseas.
Fans are loving the chemistry between Mahira and Humayun, and the film’s release during Eidul Azha helped draw big crowds. Smart marketing in countries like the UK and the US also played a big part in its success.
At a recent event, Mahira Khan said she hopes Love Guru crosses Rs1 billion. “Everyone say Ameen,” she laughed with the audience. Humayun Saeed also praised director Nadeem Baig, saying, “He’s the best director in the country,” and joked, “He charges me full price—but he’s worth it!”
Love Guru is being seen as a big win for Pakistani cinema and a sign that the film industry is picking up momentum again.
