Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a sharp increase in LPG prices for April 2026, with consumers facing a hike of more than Rs. 900 per cylinder.
According to the latest notification, the price of an 11.8 kg LPG cylinder has risen to Rs. 3,101 in April, up from Rs. 2,177 in March. This marks an increase of Rs. 923.71 per cylinder, or around 34.66 percent.
On a bulk level, LPG prices have surged to Rs. 262,817 per ton, compared to Rs. 184,536 per ton last month, reflecting a jump of Rs. 78,280 in just one month. The per-kilogram price has increased by Rs. 78.28.
OGRA said the increase is mainly due to rising global crude oil and petroleum prices. LPG producer prices in Pakistan are linked to Saudi Aramco’s Contract Price (CP) and the US dollar exchange rate.
Compared to March, the Saudi Aramco CP rose by 44 percent, which significantly pushed up local LPG prices. While the average exchange rate of the dollar slightly decreased by 0.11 percent, it was not enough to offset the global price surge.
The latest increase is expected to put additional pressure on households and businesses that rely on LPG, particularly in areas without access to natural gas.
