According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in the Sararogha area of South Waziristan, neutralizing 11 terrorists with Indian support and wounding seven others.
Two troops, Major Syed Moeez Abbas Shah (37), of Chakwal, and Lance Naik Jibranullah (27), of Bannu, were killed in the fierce gunfight.
Major Moeez enjoyed 14 years of distinguished service in the Pakistan Army. His bravery and tactical skill in a number of anti-terror operations earned him widespread recognition. Notably, he was the officer in front of whom Abhinandan Varthaman, an Indian Air Force pilot, turned himself in after his MiG-21 was shot down during the aerial battle in 2019.
“Captain, I am Indian Air Force Wing Commander 27981 Abhinandan Varthaman, and I surrender,” he said as soon as I walked up to him after noticing my rank. Please come to my rescue. “It became my professional duty to treat him appropriately from that point on,” Major Moeez had recalled.
His wife and two boys survive him.
For eight years, Lance Naik Jibranullah has served in the Pakistan Army. He fiercely fought with his fellow soldiers and lost his life while performing his job. His wife and three boys survive him.
ISPR claims that the operation, which targeted Indian-sponsored groups seeking to undermine Pakistan’s peace, was started on the basis of reliable intelligence.
The military spokeswoman said, “The sacrifices made by our courageous soldiers further strengthen our resolve to eradicate terrorism from our soil.” “The goal of security forces is to establish Pakistan as a breeding ground for peace.”
The martyrs and security forces received sincere homage from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and President Asif Ali Zardari.
“The country takes pride in its courageous boys who have given their all. Their sacrifices will always be remembered, and their bravery and tenacity inspire us all,” the national leadership stated in a joint statement.
They also reiterated the government’s resolve to eradicate terrorism from the nation and offered condolences to the martyrs’ families.
