Islamabad – A growing controversy has emerged in the fashion industry as renowned Pakistani designer Maria Butt, the founder of the popular clothing brand Maria B, faces allegations of non-payment by Turkish influencer Türkan Atay. The dispute revolves around an unpaid photoshoot that took place in Turkey, which has drawn significant attention on social media.
Türkan Atay, a digital creator with a large online following, publicly accused Maria B of failing to fully compensate her for services rendered during a collaborative project. Atay claims that she was approached for a photoshoot in Turkey and was asked to provide a comprehensive quotation. This included detailed costs covering location, production, and her personal fees. Following the agreement, Atay completed the shoot and promoted the content across her social media platforms.

Despite fulfilling her part of the agreement, Atay alleges that she only received a partial payment from the designer. She stated that Maria B had been informed beforehand that her charges were per outfit, yet the brand later justified the limited payment by citing a practice of compensating based on the number of social media reels produced.
Expressing her frustration, Türkan Atay revealed that three months have passed since the shoot, and the payment issue has yet to be resolved. She further accused Maria B of disrespecting her time and professionalism, demanding the return of the remaining dues. Atay declared, “They have treated me poorly, and it’s time to return my money. I have every right to it, and I will not work with you again.”
This public dispute has caught the attention of many in the fashion and influencer communities, with social media users closely following Atay’s updates as the situation unfolds. The incident has sparked discussions about fair compensation practices between brands and content creators, highlighting ongoing concerns within the influencer marketing industry.
