Texas, August 2, 2025 — The transfer of Ghislaine Maxwell to a minimum-security prison in Texas has sparked strong backlash from survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking network, who are calling the move “preferential treatment” and warning of a potential government cover-up.

Maxwell, 62, was quietly moved from the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Tallahassee, Florida — a low-security facility — to the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Bryan in Texas. The transfer was confirmed Friday by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons (BOP), though no official explanation has been provided.

“We can confirm Ghislaine Maxwell is in custody at FPC Bryan,” a BOP spokesperson said, declining to discuss the reasons for her relocation.

Victims Outraged Over Sudden Move

The decision has outraged survivors and advocates. Sisters Annie and Maria Farmer, along with relatives of Virginia Giuffre — another survivor who died by suicide earlier this year — issued a joint statement condemning the transfer.

“It is with horror and outrage that we object to the preferential treatment convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell has received,” they wrote. “Without notifying her victims, the government moved Maxwell overnight to a luxury minimum-security prison.”

FPC Bryan is known for its minimal fencing and lower staff-to-inmate ratio, in stark contrast to the higher-security facility in Florida where Maxwell was previously housed.

Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in 2022 for aiding Jeffrey Epstein in sexually abusing underage girls. She has served only three years of her sentence so far.

Unusual DOJ Meeting Raises Concerns

The controversy deepened after news emerged of a closed-door, two-day meeting between Maxwell and Deputy U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche at a Florida courthouse last week. Maxwell’s attorney confirmed the meeting but declined to provide details, only stating that she “answered every question she was asked.”

Critics allege political interference may be involved. Blanche, a former personal attorney to Donald Trump, has faced scrutiny due to his ties to ongoing federal investigations.

“This looks like a government cover-up in real time,” said Tim Hogan, senior adviser to the Democratic National Committee. “The Epstein files remain sealed, and now one of the key figures is being quietly moved with no explanation.”

Immunity Deal and Political Links Under Scrutiny

Sources suggest Maxwell may be seeking a congressional testimony deal in exchange for immunity, raising fresh concerns about transparency and accountability. She has also reportedly requested a presidential pardon.

Trump, whose past ties with Epstein have drawn widespread criticism, recently distanced himself from the late financier, claiming Epstein “stole” female employees from his Mar-a-Lago resort.

The FBI has stated there is no Epstein “client list,” a claim that has been met with skepticism by both Democrats and segments of Trump’s base who expected the case to expose high-profile individuals.

Calls for Justice and Transparency

Advocacy groups and survivors are demanding full disclosure from the Department of Justice regarding Maxwell’s move and any potential cooperation agreements.

“She should never be granted leniency,” the victims’ statement said. “This is a betrayal of not only those she harmed, but the principle of equal justice under the law.”

The Epstein-Maxwell case continues to generate political, legal, and public debate more than six years after Epstein’s death in a federal jail cell in 2019.
