Actress Mehwish Hayat has said that she wants to inspire young girls through the roles she chooses and the work she delivers in the entertainment industry. Speaking during a recent podcast, she shared that she focuses on quality rather than appearing in a large number of projects each year.
Mehwish Hayat said that she usually appears in only one project annually, but the strong impact of her work ensures that audiences remember her performances. She explained that directors often approach her first when a film or drama requires a challenging character. According to her, difficult and strong roles help her grow as an artist and leave a lasting effect on viewers.
She also emphasized the need for more women-centered stories in Pakistani television and films. Mehwish believes that showcasing characters such as women in law enforcement, medicine, or the legal profession can encourage girls to aim higher. She said that the media has a responsibility to create stories that help women feel empowered and confident.
Reflecting on her career, Mehwish said that although she has been part of showbiz for around 12 to 15 years, the influence of her work makes it seem like she has been active for much longer. She expressed her desire to continue acting for at least another 20 years and work on projects that bring her more recognition.
Mehwish added that she hopes young girls view her as a positive example. She wants them to gain confidence, motivation, and a belief that they can achieve their goals, just as she has in her career.
