The Office of the District Magistrate, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), has expanded the suspension of the Metro Bus service, including all feeder routes, for October 17, 2024. This marks the fourth day in a row that the Islamabad-Rawalpindi Metro Bus services have been stopped. The decision has been taken due to security concerns related to the ongoing Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

According to the notice sent to the Director of the Metro Bus (BRT), the Metro bus suspension is necessary due to the current security situation around the summit. The entire Metro Bus network will remain closed on October 17, with the authorities being formally informed.
Residents and commuters who rely on the Islamabad-Rawalpindi Metro are advised to plan their trips accordingly, as this suspension will likely cause delays and disturbances in public transportation. No official date has been provided for when the service will resume, but it is expected to return to normal once the summit ends and security conditions improve.
In the meantime, passengers are urged to use alternative transport options to avoid inconvenience caused by the Metro bus service delay. Authorities have yet to clarify if additional transportation support will be available for those affected by the extended closure of the Metro system.
