Minister Calls for Power Sector Improvements
Islamabad: Federal Minister Hammad Azhar has emphasised the importance of adopting a disciplined approach to ensure that planned reforms in the power industry are completed on time.

According to a statement released by the finance ministry, the minister was in charge of a meeting to examine the results of reforms in the power industry.
Azhar, who was demoted from the position of finance minister and given the energy portfolio, stated that the government’s top priority is to make life easier for the average person. He added that it was urgent to reduce circular debt, upgrade the transmission and distribution infrastructure, and improve service delivery in the power sector.

He stated, “The power sector has become financially tough due to the prohibitive cost of electricity generation, circular debt buildup, and leakages in the transmission system.”
He added that a consultative method was being used to make sure that all the stakeholders were taken into account and that the system’s efficiency, cost effectiveness, and sustainability were its main focuses.
