Miyawaki Urban Forest Inaugurated at Governor House
At a ceremony conducted in Governor House on Sunday in honor of World Forest Day, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam officially opened a Miyawaki urban forest covering one acre.

Governor Ismail said to reporters that the forest had been planned as part of the “10 billion trees tsunami initiative” of the PM.
He claimed that in all, 30 different trees had been planted in the urban forest at Governor House out of which 12 trees were of fruits and 18 of other types.
Malik Amin’s efforts in this area were praised by the governor, who said that his work was being recognised on a global scale. He also praised the cooperation of the Sindh Forest Department.
An audience member was informed by the PM’s adviser that 30,000 of the country’s planned one billion mangrove trees had already been planted. An additional 100,000 acres of land were being used for their planting.

He said that the urban forest areas had been selected in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur.
