Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has made history by winning the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Player of the Year award for 2024/25, becoming the first player ever to claim the honour three times.
The 33-year-old forward enjoyed another record-breaking season, finishing as the Premier League’s top scorer with 29 goals and providing 18 assists. His brilliance helped Liverpool lift their record-equalling 20th league title, finishing 10 points ahead of Arsenal.
Salah’s dominance this season has been unmatched. He also collected the Premier League Player of the Season, the Golden Boot, and the Playmaker Award, making him the first player to ever secure all three in a single campaign.
Salah previously won the PFA award in 2018 after his debut season at Anfield and again in 2022. This year, he topped a strong six-man shortlist that included Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.
In April, Salah ended speculation about his future by signing a two-year contract extension with Liverpool, despite heavy interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Other winners on the night included Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, who was named Young Player of the Year after a strong season in both the league and Champions League. Arsenal’s Mariona Caldentey was crowned Women’s Player of the Year after leading her team to European glory, while Liverpool’s Olivia Smith, who has since joined Arsenal for a record-breaking £1 million transfer, won Women’s Young Player of the Year.
Salah also earned a spot in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year, joined by Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Mac Allister. Arsenal dominated with William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Rice all included, while Nottingham Forest duo Matz Sels and Chris Wood, along with Newcastle striker Isak, completed the lineup.
With another historic season, Salah has cemented his place as one of the Premier League’s greatest players of all time.
