Muharram Processions Traffic Diversion Plan Announced

The Karachi Traffic Police have announced a traffic diversion plan for Muharram’s 8th, 9th, and 10th to ensure smooth flow and safety during the Muharram processions. The traffic police security branch has prepared the following details for the main procession routes and alternative traffic paths:

Main Procession Route:

The main Muharram procession will commence from Nishtar Park and conclude at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah, following its traditional designated routes. MA Jinnah Road will be closed from Gurumandir to Tower for security reasons.

Alternative Routes:

For District Central:

– Traffic from Nazimabad can proceed to their destinations via Lasbela Chowk to Nishtar Road through Garden.

– Traffic from Liaquatabad can turn from Teen Hati to Lasbela Chowk, then turn left towards Central Jail (Martin Road).

– Commuters traveling from Hassan Square to PP Chowrangi can take Kashmir Road to Society Light Signal (Sharea Quaideen) and continue from Jail Flyover to Teen Hati to Nishtar Road (Lasbela Chowk).

For District East:

– Commuters heading to Naumaish from Sharea Faisal to Sharea Quaideen (Noorani Kebab) can reach their destination via Kashmir Road, which is on the right side of the Society Light Signal.

– Traffic from the Central Jail gate (Jamshed Road) to Gurumandir and MA Jinnah Road can take Gurumandir to Bahadur Yar Jung Road and Soldier Bazaar.

For District South:

– Traffic from Garden Zoo to MA Jinnah Road can go via Ankle Saria to Gul Plaza, then turn right to Coast Guards and Holy Family Hospital on the left to their destination.

For Heavy Traffic:

– All heavy and commercial traffic from Super Highway, Gulberg to MA Jinnah Road will be diverted from Liaquatabad No-10 to Nazimabad Chowrangi No-2 via Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road, Shershah to Mauripur.

– Heavy traffic heading to the city via National Highway, whether through Highway Faisal or Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Hassan Square, Liaquatabad No. 10, Nazimabad Chowrangi No. 2, Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road, Shershah to Mauripur, will be allowed.

Restrictions:

– All types of traffic, both small and large, will not be allowed on the procession route beyond Gurumandir Chowk. Traffic will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jung Road and Soldier Bazaar.

– Only vehicles with a special sticker indicating participation in the procession will be allowed on MA Jinnah Road. These vehicles will enter the procession through the Highway Leaders Society Light Signal.

Participant Routes:

– Participants from Nazimabad, Lasbella, Albella, Garden Jamaat Khana on the right, Soldier Bazar No. 3 Light Signal to Naumaish, and from Liaquatabad to Teen Hati, Jahangir Road, Gurumandir to Naumaish.

– Participants from Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Gulshan-e-Iqbal can join via University Road, Purani Sabzi Mandi, Kashmir Road, Society Light Signal to Naumaish.

Sabeel or Niaz Vehicles:

– Vehicles joining the procession to perform Sabeel, Niaz, or Tabrak Taqeem will have their entry point at Tower and Memon Mosque.

– No vehicle will be allowed to park on the procession route.

This traffic diversion plan aims to manage traffic congestion and ensure the safety of all participants during the Muharram processions.
