NA Body for Expediting Work on Gwadar International Airport
Gwadar: On Sunday, the parliamentary committee on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) urged rushing the new Gwadar International Airport’s development to avoid needless delays on the part of either China or Pakistan.

The committee presided over by its chairman, Sher Ali Arbab, recommended that institutional efforts should be expedited so that the Chinese can be asked to meet the set dates for the project.
In addition to presentations on the Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute, the East Bay Highway, and the Gwadar Port Free Zone, the committee also received briefings on a number of CPEC-related infrastructural, energy, and socioeconomic development projects for Gwadar.
The approval of the Gwadar Free Zone Policy was announced at the meeting. The strategy will pave the way for additional ignition of economic activities in Pakistan and offers potential advantages for imports and exports.

The committee, while voicing worries over the problems experienced by local fishermen at Gwadar, suggested that their issues be rectified at the earliest.
In addition, the committee decided to call a special meeting to resolve energy-related concerns with other stakeholders in order to guarantee the prompt completion of the relevant projects given the significance of Gwadar for the effective implementation of CPEC.
