NA Body Takes Notice of Delivery Delay by MG Motors
Islamabad: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Industries and Production voiced concern regarding the additional fees levied by the dealers and the problems the general public is experiencing as a result of Morris & Garage (MG) Company’s delayed car deliveries.

The company importing MG automobiles was not the same as the one registered with the government, the committee was informed.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) have been invited to the next meeting to further explore the issue despite the committee’s strong reservations regarding the auto firm’s actions.
According to Engineering Development Board (EDB) representatives, MG Company acquired a green field license on January 1, 2021, and once the company has set up a facility in Pakistan, it will be permitted to import Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits.

The committee was also given a briefing by the director general of the Privatisation Commission on the key aspects of the privatization of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) and its retrenchment plan, including the remuneration package policy.
The committee instructed the secretary of the industries ministry to address the issues with PSM’s security.
The secretary immediately instructed the Sindh home secretary and Sindh inspector general of police to get a letter from the PSM top security officer (IGP).
