Families’ handling of identity and registration documents in Pakistan will be directly impacted by significant systemic changes announced by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
One significant change is that passport applications will no longer be submitted using the outdated B-Form. In order to apply for a passport, parents must now obtain a new Child Registration Certificate (CRC) for their children.
According to NADRA officials, this decision was taken to improve the security and dependability of each child’s data and to guarantee that each child has a distinct and validated identity.
The Family Registration Certificate (FRC) is another significant shift. FRC now has legal validity thanks to NADRA, allowing it to be utilized in court cases, inheritance disputes, and other legal proceedings.
It currently has formal legal weight, but in the past it was only used for generic identification or record-keeping. The FRC’s format has also been changed by NADRA to accommodate various family structure types.
Details for families consisting of parents and siblings, husband and wife with children, and even men with multiple marriages are now included in the new format; the family details for each marriage will be listed separately.
