According to reliable sources, Al-Sadat Marketing was informed that NADRA had provided FBR information about 195,000 wealthy individuals in Pakistan who are not paying taxes, including their financial accounts, registration of luxury cars, and property holdings.
Because of their luxurious lives, the FBR intends to pursue these individuals for tax collection, which suggests high-income levels.
Based on reliable sources, there is strong evidence that these wealthy individuals are not paying their taxes.
Rashid Mahmood Langrial, the chief of the Federal Bureau of Revenue, stated earlier this month that not even the wealthiest 5 percent of the population file taxes.
In July, the FBR was ordered by the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to include these wealthier people in the tax system.
After multiple attempts and at the request of the IMF, NADRA began sharing the private information of wealthy individuals evading tax with FBR today. It is to implement measures to improve the tax regime and increase tax income in the current quarter of the financial year 2024–2025.
