Nationwide Survey to Register People in Ehsaas Initiative
Islamabad: According to a news report, the government has announced plans to conduct a national survey to sign up low-income households for the ‘Ehsaas’ social protection programme, which is its main social protection initiative.

According to a representative of the Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division, up to seven million people have been enrolled as Ehsaas Kafalat beneficiaries and are now receiving a PKR 2,000 monthly stipend.
The aforementioned poll will be carried out door-to-door using digital tools and finished by June. By this survey, more persons who are below the poverty line will be found and included in the Ehsaas initiative.

Within the expansive Ehsaas initiative, 140+ social protection and poverty eradication programmes are offered, including:
- Monthly cash stipends of PKR 2,000 apiece for seven million poorest households
- merit-and-need-based scholarships of PKR 50,000
- Monthly interest-free Ehsaas loans of PKR 80,000 for small businesses
- Conditional cash transfers for primary school students every three months
- On the basis of a need assessment, 11 additional Panagahs (shelter dwellings) were built throughout the nation.
