The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced another increase in toll taxes across national highways and motorways, with the revised rates scheduled to take effect from April 1. This marks the second toll hike in a short span, sparking concerns among daily commuters and transporters over rising travel costs.

According to the official notification, toll rates have been revised for multiple vehicle categories. As per the new rates:

  • Cars will now be charged Rs. 70
  • Vans will pay Rs. 150
  • Buses will be charged Rs. 250
  • Two- and three-axle trucks will pay Rs. 300
  • Larger trucks will incur a toll of Rs. 550

The toll tax increase applies to several major motorways including M1, M3, M4, M5, M14, and E35.

For instance, the toll for cars on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M1) has risen from Rs. 500 to Rs. 550, while the Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M3) has seen a jump from Rs. 700 to Rs. 800.

This latest move by the NHA is expected to have a nationwide impact on transportation costs, especially affecting intercity travel and logistics operations. The consistent hike in toll taxes is drawing criticism from the public, who fear added pressure on their already strained budgets.

As fuel prices and inflation remain high, the revised toll tax rates in Pakistan are likely to become a major concern for both private and commercial vehicle owners in the coming months.
