Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial has clarified that there is no decision to impose additional taxes on the import of solar panels. Addressing public concerns, the FBR chief confirmed that no proposal is under consideration to raise the existing tax rates on solar panel imports, aiming to reassure consumers and stakeholders within the renewable energy sector.

In a related announcement, Langrial highlighted a significant development for the education sector. Teachers across Pakistan will now be eligible for a 25 percent income tax rebate starting from the next fiscal year. For the current fiscal year, educators will either receive a tax refund or an adjustment in line with the same rebate policy, providing much-needed financial relief.

The FBR chairman also mentioned that ongoing discussions are being held with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to secure further relief for the salaried class. The government is actively working on measures to support additional sectors of the economy, focusing on reducing financial burdens amid economic challenges.

These announcements reflect the FBR’s intent to encourage clean energy adoption and provide targeted relief to key segments of society, particularly educators and salaried individuals, without imposing new tax burdens.
