As of October 15, 2023, 2.215 million people had filed income tax returns for the tax year 2023.

According to the most recent figures, there were 0.1 million more return filers as of October 15 than there were during the same period last year.

For the tax year 2022 through June 30, 2022, 4.2 million people filed returns overall last year. The 4.2 million figure also encompasses filers who up until June 30, 2022, filed their taxes after September 30, 2022.

Up until September 30, 2023, the FBR received 1.93 million income tax returns in total, up from 1.87 million the previous year and representing a 0.06 million increase.

The deadline for submitting income tax returns was extended by the revenue board to October 31, 2023.
