Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has entered into a significant agreement with French firm SNF S.A. to deploy advanced water injection systems at its Kunnar and Pasakhi oil fields, a step projected to generate around $460 million in additional revenue.
According to the company, the initiative is expected to boost output by approximately 9 million barrels of oil and 3 billion cubic feet of gas over the remaining life of the fields. The enhanced recovery techniques are also anticipated to raise the recovery factor by 8 to 10 percent, allowing more efficient extraction from existing reservoirs.
The project will be rolled out in three phases. The first phase involves installation and commissioning within nine months. This will be followed by a two-year operations and maintenance period, during which SNF will provide technical assistance and training to OGDCL personnel. Afterward, full operational control will be handed over to OGDCL. The upgraded facilities are designed to remain operational for nearly two decades.
The agreement was signed in Islamabad in the presence of Federal Minister for Energy Ali Pervaiz Malik, OGDCL Managing Director Ahmed Hayat Lak, and French Ambassador Nicolas Galey, along with senior representatives from both sides.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to enhance production efficiency and maximize output from mature oil and gas fields through the use of modern recovery technologies.
