At least 10 people were killed and six others injured in a tragic collision between a Pakistan State Oil tanker and a passenger vehicle on Reko Diq Site Road near Tehsil Nokundi, police said on Tuesday.
According to police officials, the crash occurred when the oil tanker, operated by Pakistan State Oil, collided head-on with the passenger vehicle, killing several occupants on the spot. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Khuday Nazar from Taftan, was among the dead.
Authorities said initial information suggests that some of the deceased may have been Afghan nationals who were attempting to travel illegally from Pakistan to Iran.
The injured and the bodies of those killed were shifted to Nokundi Hospital, where officials confirmed that three of the injured are in critical condition and receiving emergency treatment.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision and to assess whether speeding, negligence, or traffic violations played a role in the accident.
