More than 600 unauthorised housing societies were discovered during the conference in the twin towns of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. There are 150 unlawful housing societies in Islamabad, 318 in Rawalpindi, and roughly 122 in Fateh Jang and Attock, according to CDA Chairman Noor Ul Amin Mengal.
Concern over these illegal housing societies’ effects on the environment was raised by the committee members. They said that these societies frequently lack sufficient sewage or drainage systems and are constructed on unpermitted land. Flooding and pollution may result from this.
The topic of imported soybeans was also covered by the committee. According to information provided to the committee, Pakistan has been importing soybean meal since 2015, but recent imports have been hampered by a shortage of licenses.

The committee members opined that action must be taken by the government to ensure the restart of soybean imports. For the poultry sector, which depends on soybean meal as a source of protein, they claimed that this is significant.
Margalla Hills was a topic of discussion for the committee as well. The committee members voiced worry about the amount of visitors to the hills, saying that this was having an adverse effect on the ecology.

The CDA should fence off the Margalla Hills, the committee suggested, to keep people out of the area. Additionally, they suggested that the CDA enhance patrols in the highlands to stop illicit activity.
The committee discussion was fruitful and produced several proposals that will aid in safeguarding the twin cities’ ecosystem.
