More than 540,000 Pakistanis fled their country in the first eight months of 2023 in quest of better work prospects abroad.
In the first eight months of the current calendar year, or up until August, 540,282 Pakistanis were registered for employment abroad, according to information received from the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment.
Up to July, there were 450,110 Pakistanis who had emigrated. This indicates that more than 90,000 Pakistanis departed the nation in pursuit of employment during the month of August.

According to the statistics, 118,172 drivers and 232,749 workers departed the country over the time period under consideration, respectively. 5,589 engineers, 5,216 accountants, 2,261 doctors, and 1,012 teachers were also among those who emigrated.
According to the bureau’s occupational group-by-occupation breakdown, of the people who departed, 15,052 were highly qualified, 31,130 were highly skilled, 197,719 were skilled, 57,516 were semi-skilled, and 238,865 were unskilled.
251,655 workers departed the country for Saudi Arabia, 147,960 for the United Arab Emirates, 39,901 for Oman, and 39,479 for Pakistani workers to go for Qatar. Malaysia (17,647), Bahrain (8,518), Romania (4,175), Greece (2,623), and Iraq (2,373) are some of the other significant nations on the list.

The data from the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment only applies to those who have registered with the Bureau, it is important to note at this point. This list does not include those who relocate abroad for academic study or by other means, such as straight immigration.
The number of Pakistanis who traveled overseas for work in 2017 was 832,339, the most since 2016.
