Pakistan, China Agree to Start Work Ml-1 Project ASAP
Islamabad: According to a recent news report, Pakistan and China have decided to begin the process of starting development work on the Main Line (ML)-1 project for the railways. Interest was shown at the meeting between Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong and Minister of Railways Azam Khan Swati.

Minister Swati announced during the meeting that the Main Line -1 (ML-1) project, which will connect many railways, will shortly begin construction. Rong, however, is of the opinion that the project will significantly advance bilateral cooperation under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) programme.
The two state officials talked about the problems with delays in the ML-1 project, which involves upgrading and extending the railway line between Peshawar and Karachi.

According to Swati, the economy will gain from the completion of ML-1, which will alter the country’s current rail network. According to Rong, the ML-1’s development will strengthen bilateral connections between the two nations and bring them closer together. Also, all parties concurred that the people will profit from the CPEC’s completion by having more employment and investment prospects.
Starting in Karachi, the ML-1 project passes through four provinces before coming to an end in Peshawar. Regarding the project’s finances and cost estimations, there have been some disputes between the two nations. But, it is anticipated that the two nations will come up with a mutually beneficial arrangement during the upcoming 10th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC), which is set to take place virtually on July 16, 2021.
