Pakistan has sent 200 tonnes of relief goods to Sri Lanka as part of ongoing support efforts, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Tuesday. The shipment was dispatched by sea from the NDMA warehouse in Islamabad during a formal handover ceremony attended by Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani and the Sri Lankan High Commissioner.
The NDMA said its aid operations for affected communities in Sri Lanka are continuing without any interruption. Minister Kayani noted that Pakistan will keep extending all possible assistance and highlighted the NDMA’s commitment to reducing the impact of disasters. The Sri Lankan High Commissioner thanked the government and people of Pakistan for their timely support.
The relief consignment is expected to take around eight days to reach Sri Lanka. It includes tents, blankets, quilts, life jackets, boats, pumps, food rations, medicines, and supplies aimed at helping communities recover from recent damage and restore essential needs.
