Pakistan has expressed concern over the rapidly changing situation in Venezuela after reports emerged that United States forces carried out a military operation and detained Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, flying them to the United States. Following the reports, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said it is actively working to ensure the safety and security of Pakistani citizens currently living in Venezuela. Officials said the well-being of the Pakistani community is a top priority and that the situation is being closely monitored.
In an official statement, the Foreign Office said Pakistan attaches great importance to the safety of the Venezuelan people and views the evolving situation with concern. It urged restraint and de-escalation to prevent further instability and stressed the importance of resolving the crisis in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.

“We urge all sides to show restraint and follow international law to address the situation peacefully,” the statement said, adding that Pakistani authorities remain engaged in efforts to safeguard their nationals in the South American country.

In Venezuela, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez has assumed the role of interim leader with approval from the country’s top court. However, she has stated that Nicolás Maduro remains the country’s president.
