According to Downdetector, an internet disruption tracker, reports of social media outages struck again today, around 1 PM. The issues also affected other platforms like Facebook and internet service providers like Nayatel. The ProPakistani staff also experienced major disruptions.
The widespread nature of these problems has led some users to speculate that the government might be behind the outages, possibly implementing a firewall to monitor and control online activity. However, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has refused that a firewall caused the major disruptions.
