The Pakistan Navy rescued an injured Indian sailor from an oil tanker in the Arabian Sea on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The rescue happened after the Joint Maritime Information and Coordination Center (JMICC) received an emergency call from a Liberian-flagged oil tanker. The ship asked for urgent medical help for one of its crew members — an Indian national — who had been seriously hurt onboard.
After getting the distress call, the Pakistan Navy quickly sent a medical team using a ship and a helicopter. The team treated the injured man, stabilized him, and moved him to a hospital in Karachi for further care.
At the time of the rescue, the sailor’s condition was very serious. However, the Navy’s quick action helped save his life. The Navy said the rescue shows its commitment to saving lives at sea, no matter where the person is from. They added that it reflects Pakistan’s support for international humanitarian values and cooperation at sea.
