Pakistan Railways is preparing to export locally manufactured coaches and wagons to five countries, Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi announced on Wednesday.

Speaking to Geo News, the minister said the export plan will initially target Chile, Argentina, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal. He added that ambassadors from these countries will be invited to the Ministry of Railways this week, where officials will give detailed presentations on Pakistan Railways’ manufacturing capacity and export offerings.

Abbasi said Pakistan Railways recorded a historic revenue of Rs. 10 billion in December, crediting the achievement to improved passenger services, better train punctuality, and operational reforms.

He also noted that freight operations have seen a turnaround through partnerships with the private sector. Containers, coal, and phosphate are now being transported more efficiently via the rail network, helping boost overall earnings.

According to the minister, Pakistan Railways aims to enter the international market by offering high-quality coaches and wagons at competitive prices, positioning the country as a capable and cost-effective rail manufacturing hub.
