The goal of the interministerial meeting on the planning and execution of the D-8 Ministerial Meeting, according to Awn Chaudhry, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Tourism & Sports and Chairman of the PTDC, was to promote Pakistan’s tourism potential and investigate member state opportunities for tourism trade.
He also mentioned that the summit might lead to new directions in socioeconomic growth.
In keeping with the aims and goals of D-8, the meeting’s objectives are to: identify potential pathways (incentives and initiatives) to enhance intra-D-8 tourism; bring together member state tourism experts to strengthen their capacities and develop effective strategies for the post-COVID-19 tourism era, provide a forum for member states to exchange best practices and knowledge to facilitate opportunities for cooperation; and investigate opportunities to promote bilateral tourism among the member states.
Established in 1997, the D-8 (Developing Eight) Organization for Economic Cooperation is an intergovernmental body. It is made up of eight developing nations: Turkiye, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Pakistan.
