The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has announced the launch of Indus AI Week 2026, a major nationwide initiative under the Prime Minister’s Digital Pakistan vision aimed at building a future-ready economy.

The week-long event will run from February 9 to February 15, 2026, and will conclude with a flagship summit at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad.

The initiative aims to position Pakistan as a significant player in the global Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem by bringing together policymakers, international tech companies, academia, and the country’s growing startup community.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described Indus AI Week as a pivotal step in Pakistan’s economic transformation. In his message, he emphasized that AI is no longer a futuristic concept but a present-day necessity for governance, industry, and economic growth.

The Prime Minister’s vision is to move Pakistan from being a technology consumer to becoming a global hub of innovation. Indus AI Week is designed to demonstrate the country’s readiness to integrate AI into sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and finance to improve efficiency and transparency.

“We are committed to equipping our youth with world-class skills to lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” the Prime Minister said.

Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, highlighted that the government’s focus has shifted from policy discussions to practical adoption of technology. She invited international investors to explore Pakistan’s untapped digital potential.

“Indus AI Week marks a move from dialogue to tangible adoption,” she said. “By connecting more than 25,000 IT graduates produced annually with global AI leaders, we are building a sustainable ecosystem aligned with the Digital Nation Pakistan vision.”

She added that the week-long engagement will position ‘Tech Destination Pakistan’ as a credible global hub for developing ethical, scalable AI solutions, reinforcing the country’s ambition to become a competitive digital economy driven by innovation, talent, and trust.

Indus AI Week 2026 will feature a series of flagship programs focused on real-world AI adoption, including:

  • AI for HER, promoting gender inclusivity in the AI economy
  • E-Sports & Gaming, positioning gaming as a high-value digital export
  • Technology & Innovation Hub, connecting talent with capital, policy, and markets

  • GovTech & DefenceTech Showcase, highlighting AI-enabled governance

Former P@SHA Chairman Muhammad Zohaib Khan, a contributor to the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) initiatives, welcomed the event as a milestone for the private sector.

“Indus AI Week reflects the synergy between government facilitation and private sector innovation,” he said. “Pakistan’s IT industry has already achieved record exports. With support from SIFC and platforms like this, we are ready to scale our intellectual property in Generative AI and Deep Tech. The world will see that Pakistan is not just a back-office destination but a cradle for high-end AI research and development.”
