Islamabad: With Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi departing on a trip to Iraq, where senior Saudi and Iranian officials recently met, Pakistan is once more prepared to play a role in promoting reconciliation between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Islamabad attempted to reconcile the two regional enemies in the past, but such attempts were unsuccessful. Pakistan has a lot riding on the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Iran since tensions between the two major Islamic nations have frequently made it difficult for Pakistan to maintain a balance.
According to reports, Foreign Minister Qureshi will also talk about other topics during his visit to Baghdad, including measures to reduce tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
