Pakistan to Share Pension-Related Plan with IMF

According to the source, the federal government is working on a pension spending plan at the request of the International Monetary Fund.

Officials say talks are underway with the IMF to make pension spending sustainable for the country.

The IMF’s following policy will be based on tax reform and increasing tax revenues.

Officials further said the government will likely need to review the 18% general sales tax (GST).

The official added that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will set up a platform for spot trading.

A new agenda for companies operating their power plants is also being developed.

The official further said that the increase in circular debt could have profound implications for the country, and there is a need to ensure equity in the payment of utility and consumer bills.
