Pakistan to Start Manufacturing of Solar Panels Locally
In an effort to increase the production and use of renewable energy and alleviate power shortages, the government of Pakistan has proposed abolishing tariffs on solar and wind energy equipment manufacturing.

Dr. Najeeb Ullah, who directs the research at the university, stated, “We are commencing production and will shortly deliver our first order for generating 2MW of power.”
The cost per watt of the panels used to produce energy is approximately 60 rupees. Dr. Najeeb remarked, “We will build power panels of AAA grade, reducing production costs to Rs. 48 per watt and finally to Rs.

Currently, wind and solar projects in Pakistan generate 6% of the country’s total electricity; however, the solar panels utilized to generate energy are imported and less efficient.
