Pakistan and UAE Ink Five Cooperation Agreements in Railways, Mining, and Other Sectors

Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed five significant agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including banking, railways, mining, and infrastructural investment.

The agreements were formalized during the first official visit of Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to Pakistan. The visit came at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, underscoring the growing strategic partnership between the two nations.

A high-profile signing ceremony took place, where both leaders witnessed the exchange of pre-signed agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between representatives from Pakistan and the UAE. The event was attended by federal cabinet members, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, and a delegation from the UAE.

Key Agreements Signed:

  • Banking Sector Cooperation: Pakistan and the UAE agreed to enhance collaboration in the banking sector. The agreement was exchanged between Secretary Finance Imdadullah Bosal and CEO & MD of IHC Syed Basar Shueb.
  • Mining Sector Development: Another crucial agreement focused on strengthening cooperation in the mining sector, a move expected to unlock new investment opportunities.
  • Railway Infrastructure Agreements: Two MoUs were signed in the railway sector, exchanged between CEO of Pakistan Railways Amir Ali Baloch and CEO Etihad Rail Shadi Malik, aiming to modernize and expand railway networks.
  • Infrastructural Investment: An MoU in the field of infrastructural investment was signed between Secretary Board of Investment Nadeem Chaudhary and CEO of AD Ports, Capt. Muhammad Juma Al Shamisi.

This visit and the signing of these agreements highlight the UAE’s commitment to investing in Pakistan’s economic growth and fostering long-term cooperation. The agreements are expected to create employment opportunities, boost trade, and strengthen Pakistan’s infrastructural framework.

With these developments, Pakistan and the UAE continue to deepen their economic and diplomatic ties, paving the way for greater regional collaboration and prosperity.
