Pakistan, Uzbekistan to Accelerate Work on Railway Project

Pakistan and Uzbekistan have decided to speed the Trans Afghan Railway’s construction between Tashkent, Kabul, and Islamabad, according to the most current media reports. During a discussion, Pakistani Railways Minister Azam Khan Swati and the Uzbek Transport Minister reached an agreement.

The Minister of Railways claimed that the project was being implemented. Due to this railway project, Uzbekistan would have easy access to the Arabian seaports of Karachi (Gawadar and Bin Qasim).

Notable is the recent signing between Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan for the Trans Afghan Railway project. This project will create a rail connection between Central Asia and Arabian Sea ports. The proposed route will travel from Mazar-e-Sharif in northern Afghanistan to Termez, Uzbekistan through Kabul and Peshawar, Pakistan. The initiative will allow Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Kazakhstan to export internationally via waterways.
