The ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel has been formally welcomed by Pakistan, which calls on all sides to respect it and refrain from taking any steps that would exacerbate the already unstable Middle East.

The Foreign Office said in a statement on Tuesday that Pakistan “welcomes the announcement of the ceasefire understanding between Iran and Israel” and urged all parties involved to respect it.

The Foreign Office also underlined Pakistan’s support for fresh initiatives to advance regional engagement and diplomacy, stating that these initiatives were necessary for enduring peace.

The statement added, “We also welcome and support the efforts aimed at reviving dialogue and diplomacy in the region.”

Pakistan emphasized that using force to settle regional problems is not a viable strategy, reinforcing its longtime commitment to peace.

“Only by rigorously adhering to the goals and tenets of the U.N. Charter and by abstaining from the use of force can peace and stability be achieved in the region,” the statement continued.

Pakistan promised to support any efforts that advance regional peace and stability and to keep playing a positive role. The Foreign Office came to the conclusion that “Pakistan will continue to support all efforts in this regard.”

Ishaq Dar, the foreign minister and deputy prime minister, also praised the parties that were instrumental in bringing about the truce and expressed optimism that it would help bring about long-term peace and stability in the area.

“Pakistan firmly believes that all disputes must be resolved in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter and international law, including respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said on his official X account.
