Pakistan continued its strong run on the international squash circuit as Muhammad Asim Khan and Noor Zaman progressed to the round of 16 at the Squash on Fire Open, a bronze-level PSA World Tour tournament underway in Washington, United States.
Asim Khan booked his place in the last 16 after a gripping five-game victory over Nick Wall. The 63-minute encounter saw Asim recover from a slow start, losing the first game 5–11 before taking control to win the next two 11–7 and 11–6. Wall pushed the match to a decider by edging the fourth 12–10, but Asim held his nerve in the final game to seal an 11–8 win and close the match 3–2.
He will next face Declan James in the round of 16.
Soon after, Noor Zaman also advanced with an impressive 3–1 win over Xian Siow in a 47-minute first-round match. Noor narrowly dropped the opening game 11–13 but responded strongly, taking the next three games 11–9, 11–7, and 11–5 to secure victory.
Noor Zaman will now take on Patrick Rooney in the round of 16.
With both players moving into the knockout stage, Pakistan maintains a strong presence at the tournament and will look to build further momentum as the competition intensifies.
