Pakistan’s automobile sales recorded strong year-on-year growth in February 2026, although volumes declined compared with the previous month due to seasonal factors.

According to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association, total car sales reached 17,121 units in February 2026. This represents a 42 percent increase compared with the same month last year, but a 26 percent decline from January 2026.

Cumulative sales for the first eight months of fiscal year 2026 reached 128,498 units, marking a 43 percent increase compared with 89,770 units during the same period of FY25.

Industry analysts attributed the month-on-month decline largely to the high base effect from January, when vehicle registrations typically rise due to the start of a new calendar year, and to fewer working days in February. The strong annual growth, however, was supported by new market entrants, lower interest rates, easing inflation, and improving macroeconomic conditions.

Overall, the automobile sector continues to show signs of recovery, supported by improving economic sentiment and easing inflation. However, monthly fluctuations remain influenced by seasonal registration trends and market dynamics.
