Remittances from overseas Pakistanis touched $3.1 billion in August 2025, according to the latest figures released by the State Bank of Pakistan. The inflows showed a 7% increase compared to the same month last year, but on a monthly basis, they fell slightly by 1% compared to July 2025.
In the first two months of the current fiscal year, remittances totaled $6.4 billion. This is a notable improvement from the $5.9 billion recorded during the same period last year, showing stronger support from Pakistanis living abroad despite global economic pressures.
Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of inflows in August, sending $736.7 million. The United Arab Emirates followed with $642.9 million, while the United Kingdom contributed $463.4 million and the United States added $267.3 million.
These numbers underline Pakistan’s ongoing reliance on overseas workers, especially those based in the Middle East, Europe, and North America. The money sent home by expatriates continues to be a crucial lifeline for families in Pakistan while also playing a key role in supporting the country’s foreign reserves and balancing the external account.
