Pakistan’s Ride-Hailing Industry Breaks New Ground as Yango Integrates 15 Emergency Helplines with PSCA

Yango Ride, part of the global technology firm Yango Group, has introduced a major safety upgrade in Pakistan through a new partnership with the Punjab Safe City Authority. This in-app integration is the first of its kind in Pakistan’s ride-hailing industry and is aimed at improving passenger and driver safety through faster emergency response.

With this new feature, Yango users can directly call the official Emergency 15 police helpline from within the Yango app. The call is automatically routed to the Emergency Response Centre with a priority flag, ensuring immediate attention in case of any emergency during a ride. The system has been designed to remove common delays that usually occur when users have to explain their location or vehicle details verbally.

As soon as an emergency call is made, critical ride and user information is automatically shared with PSCA authorities. This includes the user’s live location, name, and phone number, the address from where the call is placed, the partner driver’s details, vehicle information, and the pickup and drop-off locations entered during booking. This allows authorities to respond quickly with full situational awareness.

Through this integration, users can also access multiple emergency services, including police assistance, ambulance services, and the Virtual Women Police Station, which is especially aimed at supporting female passengers.

Miral Sharif, Country Head of Yango Pakistan, said the company places safety at the center of its operations. She stated that working closely with law enforcement and Safe City authorities is essential for building a secure ride-hailing ecosystem. She added that integrating Emergency 15 with live data sharing is a major step toward ensuring quick and reliable help during rides.

Officials from the Punjab Safe City Authority welcomed the partnership, saying that direct digital access to Emergency 15 with automatic data sharing supports their goal of improving public safety and reducing response times.

Deputy Inspector General Ahsan Younas, Chief Executive Officer of the Punjab Safe City Authority, said the ability to receive verified information instantly through Yango’s system helps emergency teams act faster and more effectively. He added that the collaboration will strengthen public trust in law enforcement and emergency response systems and contribute to safer travel across the province.

The new safety feature reflects growing efforts to use technology to improve public protection and marks a significant step forward for ride-hailing safety standards in Pakistan.
