The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a special white-ball training camp featuring 22 of the country’s top cricketers, scheduled from June 3 to 5. The camp, designed to run in three sessions, is part of new head coach Mike Hesson’s strategy to integrate his coaching philosophies and evaluate key players ahead of upcoming international assignments.
This marks Hesson’s first opportunity to work with a broader group of players beyond the T20I squad. High-profile names like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi are among the attendees, along with a blend of seasoned professionals and promising youngsters, many of whom impressed during the latest Pakistan Super League (PSL) season.
The training camp will be used to assess fitness, form, and tactical understanding of players as Pakistan prepares for a busy white-ball calendar. Players will be divided into three groups over the course of the camp, but the senior trio of Babar, Rizwan, and Shaheen will participate in all sessions, underscoring their leadership roles.
Full list of participants includes: Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Usman Khan, Saud Shakeel, Shahid Aziz, Abbas Afridi, Salman Mirza, Mir Hamza, Abdullah Shafique, Khawaja Nafay, Haider Ali, Ahmed Daniyal, Mehran Mumtaz, Khurram Shahzad, Maaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Nawaz, Aamir Jamal, Sufiyan Muqeem, Ali Raza, and Tayyab Tahir.
With Pakistan recently securing a T20I series win against Bangladesh, the camp will serve as critical preparation before the team returns to Bangladesh for another white-ball series. The PCB aims to use this opportunity to boost consistency, discipline, and long-term planning under Hesson’s guidance, setting a solid foundation for future success in white-ball formats.
