In response to a purported land transfer scam involving roughly 1,375 kanals of property inside a significant government housing project, the district administration of Peshawar acted quickly. The investigation, which was started in response to a complaint on the Pakistan Citizen Portal, found that the mutations in the Ghari Faizuallah area had been altered, as well as the income records. The anticipated cost to the exchequer of this fictitious land transfer was Rs 1 billion.
Rao Hashim Azeem, the deputy settlement commissioner for Peshawar, led the investigation and discovered that three tax agents were complicit in the fraud. The damaged land, which was once community-owned (shamilat), was illegally transferred to a housing society connected to a provincial government effort on the outskirts of the city after being wrongly identified as evacuee property.

The accused officials have been suspended as a result of this information, and the district collector has been urged to evaluate and revoke the fake mutations and associated intimation letters for plotting. The findings have been communicated to the Peshawar Development Authority, which is in charge of carrying out the housing project, to enable necessary action.
Shah Fahad, the deputy commissioner for Peshawar, promised a comprehensive investigation of the situation within two weeks to guarantee a resolution. In addition to pointing out that the administration is actively addressing situations of tampering and anomalies, he emphasised the significance of protecting the integrity of revenue transactions.
The district administration acknowledges its commitment to ensuring effective tax management in the region, even though this occurrence only applies to a specific land section. Fahad disclosed that 30 inquiries are continuing for various cases of malpractice, and that 13 revenue officers had been suspended in the last six months.
