Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has restarted direct flights from Lahore to Paris after five years, in a big step to rebuild its flight routes to Europe. The first flight, PK-733, left Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport at 12 noon on Wednesday, with 276 passengers on board heading to Paris. The service had been stopped earlier due to various operational and regulatory problems.

A special event was held at the airport to celebrate the restart of this important international route. PIA officials and passengers took part in the ceremony.

PIA already runs two weekly flights from Islamabad to Paris. Now, with the Lahore flights added, people from Punjab will have more choices for direct travel to Europe.

Earlier, in January 2025, PIA returned to Paris for the first time in 4.5 years with flight PK-749 from Islamabad. That flight carried 317 passengers, including PIA’s CEO Amir Hayat and other senior officials. When the flight landed, it was welcomed warmly by PIA staff and officials from the Pakistan Embassy at the Paris airport.

PIA hopes that restarting these routes will help improve its global network and make it easier for people in Pakistan to travel to Europe.
