An employee of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been arrested for allegedly stealing the luggage of a female traveler at Jinnah International Airport.
Initial reports state that the event happened upon the landing of a PIA flight (PK-305) from Lahore in Karachi. The flight’s female passenger complained to the airport management that her bag was gone when she got there.
According to airport officials, Tariq Ali, the accused suspect, works in the engineering division of PIA. Authorities tried to take him into prison, but after a brief altercation, he was captured.
A top official with knowledge of the situation said, “The missing bag, which contained the passenger’s belongings, was recovered with the assistance of Karachi Airport administration.”
The accused has been turned over to the Airport Security Force (ASF) by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) for additional examination. In addition, authorities verified that Tariq Ali’s airport pass has been seized while the investigation is ongoing.
According to reports, PIA has also launched an internal inquiry, and the ASF is anticipated to provide a preliminary report in the next several days.
