Pile Work for Reconstruction of I.J.P Principal Road Begins
Islamabad: The National Logistics Cell (NLC) has begun resurfacing I.J. Principal Road by installing piles.

In addition to two other projects, Prime Minister Imran Khan performed the groundbreaking for the road’s reconstruction project last month.
After conducting soil tests at four sites where bridges would be built, CDA authorities reported that the NLC, which had been given the contract, began preparing the piles. They estimated that full-scale development on the project would begin within a month.
Officials estimated that the project, which includes the reconstruction of the road and the creation of two rigid lanes for heavy vehicles on either side, would be completed in 18 months.

I.J.P connects Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and is a significant route for heavy freight from Punjab, Azad Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The road was not intended for high traffic; rather, it was planned as the main road separating sectors ‘I’ and ‘J’, similar to 7th Avenue and 9th Avenue.
However, years of excessive traffic have resulted in the road’s deteriorating condition, with several potholes presenting hazards for drivers.
