Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Islamabad administration to take strict action against profiteers during Ramadan. He emphasized that the government is committed to providing maximum relief to the people in the holy month.
Chairing a meeting on Tuesday, PM Shehbaz praised the efforts of the price control committee and the Islamabad administration. He acknowledged their role in keeping food prices low and ensuring essential items are available at affordable rates.
The prime minister instructed federal ministers and elected representatives to visit Ramazan bazaars, Sahulat stalls, and other designated areas. He stressed the need for continuous monitoring to prevent price hikes.

Price Control Measures in Islamabad
Officials briefed the prime minister about the measures taken in Islamabad:
- 16 Sahulat stalls, five Ramazan bazaars, and 18 fair price shops have been set up.
- Essential food items like sugar, ghee, pulses, and chicken are being sold at lower rates.
- DC counters have been established in departmental stores to ensure 12 essential items remain available.
- 4,915 inspections have been conducted so far.
- 785 profiteers have been arrested, and fines worth Rs. 728,000 have been imposed.
An online system is also being used to track price magistrates’ performance. Additionally, Iftar dinners are being arranged for the needy at eight locations through Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal.
The meeting was attended by federal ministers Dr. Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Hanif Abbasi, Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, and senior government officials.The government remains firm on its policy of zero tolerance against profiteering to ease the burden on citizens during Ramazan.
