PM confident of a stronger strategic and trade partnership with Saudi Arabia

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday expressed confidence that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will continue to strengthen their strategic, defence and trade ties. His remarks came during a high-level meeting with a delegation from the Saudi Shura Council led by its chairman, Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Sardar Yousaf. The prime minister extended good wishes to King Salman, prayed for his health, and praised Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s vision for development. He described Saudi Arabia’s recent progress as remarkable and an example for other countries to follow.

PM Shehbaz highlighted the recent defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, saying it reflects mutual trust and the strength of bilateral relations. He added that the agreement would further boost cooperation in the areas of defence, trade, and strategic partnership.

Dr Abdullah thanked the prime minister for his hospitality and said the visit was important, especially in the context of the new defence agreement. He also stressed the need for strengthening parliamentary ties, with both sides agreeing to exchange delegations to deepen mutual cooperation.

Meanwhile, a separate high-level Saudi business delegation led by Prince Mansour bin Mohammad Al Saud, chairman of the Saudi-Pakistan Joint Business Council, met Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the growing economic relationship.

Ishaq Dar assured the Saudi investors that Pakistan will provide all possible facilities for their ventures. He underlined the vast potential for economic cooperation and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting Saudi investors. Prince Mansour praised the success of the Saudi-Pakistan Business Council and emphasized working together for shared prosperity.
