Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially declared May 10 as ‘Marka-e-Haq Day’ to be observed annually across Pakistan in honor of the country’s successful defense during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. The announcement comes as a tribute to the resilience and professional excellence demonstrated by the Pakistani armed forces in the face of aggression. In a statement issued on Monday, the prime minister highlighted May 10 as a pivotal moment in Pakistan’s military history, underscoring the bravery and tactical superiority of the national defense forces.

As part of the national recognition, May 16 has also been designated as a ‘Day of Gratitude’ to express thanks for the victory on the defense front. The day will include nationwide special prayers to thank Allah Almighty and seek continued prosperity and strength for the country. This spiritual observance is intended to foster unity and reinforce the nation’s resolve in safeguarding its sovereignty.

In addition to the commemorative declarations, the prime minister unveiled a robust relief and compensation package for individuals affected by recent hostilities and for the families of martyrs. The relief measures include a compensation of Rs 10 million for civilian martyrs and Rs1 to 2 million for the injured. Families of Pakistan Army personnel who were martyred will receive Rs 10 million to Rs 18 million, depending on their rank. Furthermore, home facility allowances ranging from Rs 19 million to Rs 42 million will be provided, also based on military rank.

To support the families of martyrs, the government will continue to pay the full salary and allowances of the fallen until their retirement date. Children of martyrs will be granted free education up to graduation, and a marriage grant of Rs 1 million will be provided for the wedding of one daughter per martyr. Armed forces personnel who sustained injuries will receive between Rs2 million and Rs5 million, depending on the severity of their injuries.

The state has also pledged to reconstruct homes and mosques that were damaged during Indian strikes. All medical expenses for the injured will be fully covered. In recognition of exceptional contributions to the nation’s defense, individuals who played critical roles in upholding Pakistan’s sovereignty will be honored at the national level.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the government holds a solemn responsibility to care for the families of martyrs and ensure their futures are secure. The annual observance of Marka-e-Haq Day on May 10 will serve not only to commemorate the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes but also to reinforce a spirit of unity, resilience, and pride in Pakistan’s armed forces.
